Long & Hefty Gendaito in Kai Gunto Mounts
Signature: Bizen Kojima Ju Tomonaga Akisuke Kinsaku.
Year Made: Showa 10th year, eighth moon, lucky day (August, 1935)
Forging Pattern: Appears to be a tight flowing masame.
Tempering Pattern: suguha midare.
Dimensions: Blade Length: 27.5 inchesNakago: 8.25 inches 6 mm thick and 35 mm wide at Hamachi
Mountings: Kai-gunto mounts in pretty good shape, ito and menuki missing from tsuka, all parts have matching numbers, some missing lacquer and dents in saya.
Overall Condition: Good, long and very heavy (bare blade is over 2 pounds) blade, nicely forged with minor pitting, stains and scratches, would polish very nicely. Relatively rare Kai-gunto mounts need a little work to make an attractive mounting for the sword. Smith needs research as we could find no reference to him but mei is well cut and it is an early Showa sword.
