Mountings:  Rare 1875 field officer (major-colonel) pattern kyu-gunto mounts in excellent condition with a gold wash "rain" pattern habaki and a general officer's tassel with the cloth missing from the bottom fob and much wear to the rest, however these are extremely rare in any condition. The workmanship on the hand guard and backstrap is extremely well done and the grip underneath is white samé with wire ties. The saya is chrome plated steel with some discoloration of the plating.
Overall Condition:  Excellent, sword is a plated steel parade saber with bo-hi and with some scratches and pitting that do not detract from this excellent piece. This is a scarce sword and to find one in such excellent condition overall with a tassel is a rare find indeed. A must have for the collector of Japanese military arms.
