Mountings: Original mounts from the 1800s in very good condition. Some chips on the lacquered saya.
Overall Condition: Excellent, in good old polish with no visible flaws. It is difficult to find swords with original period mounts in good condition. This sword, while short for a katana, is very well proportioned and well balanced. As with many Bungo swords, it is very stout and gives a sense of strength and confidence.
