Mountings: Fittings of medium quality in good shape. No dents in saya, wrap on tsuka intact as is the wooden core and samé, Some dirt and corrosion on the seppa and tsuba and everything shows its age and use. But is all solid and appears original to the sword.
Overall Condition: Good, some scratches, very shallow pitting and some staining from what appears to be a chemical cleaner. The habaki is rusted to the sword but a soaking in WD-40 should free that. The second ji of the name was hard to decipher but we have included a picture of a mei the same as this one from Fuller and Gregory's Swordsmiths of Japan: 1026-1945, as well as the index description. All in all a WW II gunto in original mounts in good condition.
