Mountings: Army style, single ashi '34 pattern mounts with gilt army style fittings instead of standard naval fittings. Saya in excellent condition. Brown handle wrap over black material. Fittings of poor quality. Large part of naval tsuba with Dai seppa missing as well as one of the small seppa. Silver washed copper habaki missing about a third of its plating.
Overall Condition: Excellent, blade in perfect condition with anchor stamp on nakago. Whole sword matches Plate 199 in Fuller and Gregory's Japanese Civil and Military Swords and Dirks of a "Shin-gunto with Naval characteristics".
