Mountings:  In the Meiji Period Samurais were banned from wearing swords in public, the most die hard of them mounted old blades in cane swords such as this one to skirt the ban.  This cane is lacquered to look like the bark of a cherry tree.  There is some lacquer damage to this otherwise all original piece.
Overall Condition:  Good.  Some lacquer damage on mounts, blade could use a good polish but is in nice original condition.
