Extremely Rare Wakizashi Kai-Gunto Signed Moritaro

Signature: Edo ju Moritaro (Moritaro of Tokyo).
Year Made: WW II era
Forging Pattern: none
Tempering Pattern: none
Dimensions:  Blade Length:  23.375 inchesNakago: 7.875 inches 6 mm thick and 28 mm wide at Hamachi
Mountings:  Later '37 Kai-Gunto mounts with simulated samé on tsuka and saya. Medium quality fittings with some loss of bright plating. Saya in good condition with no problems, all matching numbers on tsuba, seppa-dai and seppa with a silver washed copper habaki.
Overall Condition:  Good, Sword is covered with scratches from cleaning but a faint probably simulated hamon can be seen in places and a boshi is faint on the kissaki. Sword has no rust, nicks or pits and the signature is more likely that of a factory worker than a sword smith. A very clean example of a naval gunto of this era. And it is unusual to see a gunto of less than katana length.  This is one of less than 5 Wakizashi Guntos that i have seen and the first one that is a Naval Sword.
