Full Gusoku Suit of Armor

Circa: Early to mid 1700s

Iron, black lacquered NAMBAN NI MAI DOH.

DOH: The body armor of this set is a 2 section NAMBAN (southern barbarian) style armor. Although the rest of the armor is lacquered in black, the main part of the DOH is lacquered in an extremely dark brown. The body armor is very heavy iron plate. The attached KUSAZURI are also of iron, and they are lacquered in black. The lacing is black or a very dark blue. The body is in very good condition.

KABUTO: This is an black lacquered iron EBOSHI style helmet. It has a 3 section SHIKORO that is also made of iron and lacquered black. The lacing has been restored and does not match the rest of the armor, however the trim lacing is the same. The helmet liner is intact, and the chinstrap is undyed hemp. The helmet is in excellent condition.

MEN: The face mask is a two section iron MENPO. It is more of a RYUBU than RESSEI style. It is lacquered in black as is the YODARE KAKE. The interior of the MENPO is red/vermillion. The lacing is black or very dark blue. It is in excellent condition.

SODE: These are also iron and lacquered black. They are in excellent condition.

SANGU: The SANGU (KOTE, SUNEATE, and HAIDATE) are a matched set. Black lacquered iron plates connected by unlacquered chin mail. They are all in good condition.

This armor is a matched GUSOKO, and all in unrestored original condition, with the exception of the helmet lacing. With only a few scratches and chips to the lacquer, and a few broken lacings, the overall condition is very good.

Non of the pieces are signed.

A HITSU comes with the suit. It is in poor condition and has no real value except for a display stand.
